On March 29th, the “Spring Cherry Blossom Encounter” 2024 Wuhan Investment and Trade Promotion Matchmaking Conference, hosted by the Wuhan Municipal Government, was convened at the Wuhan International Convention Center. Over 120 guests, including representatives from domestic and international goods trade, cross-border e-commerce, leading enterprises in the supply chain logistics sector, prominent service trade companies, and key business association delegates, were invited to attend. Cheng Yongwen, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, received the entrepreneur representatives attending the event. Wang Yuancheng, Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Government, attended and delivered remarks. Yu Lijun, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, chaired the meeting. Zhang Zhi, Director of the Municipal Investment Promotion Bureau, presented an overview of the city’s business economy and foreign trade development. Chen Tong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of HIETC, along with relevant business leaders, were invited to participate in the conference.

During the event, HIETC signed a long-term agreement for the import of energy with its partners, with a contract value of 1.5 billion RMB.

Cheng Yongwen welcomed the entrepreneur representatives attending the event and expressed gratitude for their long-term concern and support for Wuhan. He pointed out that Wuhan is building itself as a national central city, a core city in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and an important node city in the Belt and Road Initiative. With obvious comprehensive advantages in terms of scientific and educational talents, location and transportation, industrial foundation, and ecological environment, Wuhan will focus on promoting the transformation of “three advantages” and accelerating the formation of new productive forces. He hoped that entrepreneurs would continue to have confidence in Wuhan, invest in Wuhan, and deepen their engagement with Wuhan. They should seize strategic opportunities such as the construction of national central cities, core cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the promotion of the rise of central China. They should further deepen strategic cooperation with Wuhan, jointly build new advantages in the open economy, and help Wuhan achieve high-level opening-up.

Wang Yuancheng stated that Wuhan is comprehensively implementing the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the symposium on the rise of the central region in the new era, accelerating the construction of a new inland open highland in the new era, and taking the lead in constructing a pioneer area for Hubei Province to build a national new development pattern. Wuhan will actively leverage its advantages in industries, innovation, hubs, ecology, and customs clearance to promote the integration and promotion of industry and trade, achieve a higher level of opening-up, and sincerely invite participating companies to invest in Wuhan. They will share in the new opportunities of Wuhan’s construction as a strategic hub for dual circulation, the creation of an international consumer center city, the innovation and development of trade in services, the construction of a high-level open platform, and the establishment of a multi-dimensional hub for land, sea, and air, opening up a new situation of cooperation and win-win.

It is reported that this conference, themed “Joining Forces and Building a New Inland Open Highland in the New Era,” saw the signing of 24 projects, covering fields such as supply chain services, bulk commodity trade, automobile trade, agricultural product trade, cross-border e-commerce, technology services, offshore service outsourcing, association co-construction, and school-enterprise cooperation for talent development. It is the largest, most content-rich, and fruitful investment and trade matchmaking event held by Wuhan in recent years.
